Novo Sancti Petri
The original village of Sancti Petri is now abandoned, but was once the home to a colony of fishermen.The town was renamed Novo Sancti Petri, and is now an upmarket tourist resort. In recent years this tourist complex has become one of the trendiest places on the coast, offering a complete range of activities. Golfing is one of the resort's main attractions and over the past few years more and more golfers prefer to head over to Novo Sancti Petri, partly thanks to the fact that it is so close to Jerez airport.
Three things not to be missed on your next visit:
1. Visit the castle of Sancti Petri: The castle, located on the small island of Sancti Petri, was built over the ruins of the famous Temple of Hercules.
2. Go scuba diving: head down to La Barrosa beach for a spot of scuba diving. Crystal clear water makes this beach ideal for underwater exploring.
3. Saddle up: the Novo Sancti Riding Club organises rides along the beach, or in and around the nearby nature park. It's great for couples with young children, as it offers good deals for families.
