Medina Sidonia
A step back in time - an Arab and medieval flavour
Medina Sidonia is an unspoilt, ancient hilltop town. It was one of Spain's most important ducal seats in the 15th century. The town itself has the whole essence of a Moorish city, and one of its main attractions is its main square. When one arrives in Medina, the feeling is of having gone back in time. One expects a horseman dressed in Arab gear to come galloping through the main archway, waving a spade in his hand. All in all, this town is one of the few authentic Spanish villages left in the area; be sure not to miss it.
Three things not to be missed on your next visit:
1.Walk the Route of the Bull: it's a great way to get to see some of Medina's stunning countryside. This route takes one right through the Alcornocales Nature Park, and one might just come across a fighting bull grazing at the side of the road...
2. Spend a night in an inn: treat yourself to a night or two in one of the most spectacular inns in the area. La Hospedería Duques de Medina Sidonia is ideal for a couple of days away from the hustle and bustle of civilization. Tel: 956 360 161
