Facinas
Although it may not be the most picturesque village in the province of Cádiz it simply oozes history, and each and every street has a different story to tell.
For those who fancy a breather from the surfing scene in the neighbouring town of Tarifa, this is the ideal hideaway.
Three things not to be missed on your next visit:
1. Meditate in a fantastic environment: there's something about Facinas that makes meditation seem very appealing, apart from the peace and quiet. There's a centre called Los Ba–os where Janet Mitchell offers courses for all those who fancy exploring their more sensitive side.
2. Drive the Roman highway: one shouldn't miss a spectacular drive along what was formerly a Roman Highway. This scenic drives goes from Facinas to Los Barrios, and has some absolutely stunning views.
3. Hike and bike: next time you're in town be sure to hire a bike or simply put on your walking boots and trek the cork oak forest that surrounds the town.
