Not really a sport, but certainly great for your health is a visit to the famous Chiclana Spa - El Balneario de Fuenteamarga.This spa has two centuries of experience in the treatment of arthritis, asthma, eczema, psoriasis, acne, respiratory problems and todays killer - stress.
There are so many pastimes to enjoy in and around Chiclana, we list a few:
Golf
Golfers can enjoy 36 holes at Novo Sancti Petri, the coastal resort. The sea pines course has the front 9 holes with pine tree-lined fairways, the back nine has spectacular views across the Atlantic Ocean and the centre course has an abundance of lush vegetation. There are plenty of bunkers and water hazards to test even the most talented golfers. This Par 27 course was designed by Seve Ballesteros.
Sailing and Water sports
In the last few years, windsurfing and scuba diving have become extremely popular and this particular part of the also coast offers great fishing opportunities. At Novo Sancti Petri there is a pleasure harbour with 724 mooring places for sailing and motor boats. There is a Yacht Club, a dry dock and sailing and windsurfing schools.
Tennis
Tennis lovers won't be disappointed at this destination. The Tennis Club La Barrosa in the urbanization "Pinar del Atlántico" has 12 tennis courts, 2 paddle courts and a tennis school. The International Tennis School has 6 clay courts, 2 green-set courts, 2 grass courts and a pro-shop with the latest tennis gear.
Cycling
Cycling is close to Chiclana's heart as one of their residents is an Olympic cycling champion. The Cycle track is in the Sports Pavillion which also has 2 basketball courts, indoor soccer, 2 tennis courts, an open swimming pool and gymnasium.
The Novo Sancti Petri resort also has three football pitches (many European teams carry out their winter training here), 8 tennis courts, several squash courts, 3 climatic swimming pools and a riding club.
